OFAC recent actions and sanctions screening in your AI assistant

Quick answer, Oct 28, 2026As of 28 October 2026, the Distributed Risk MCP server at https://www.distributedrisk.com/mcp gives an AI assistant OFAC's recent actions, newest first, and a search of the Consolidated Screening List by name, alias or identifier. It is read-only, needs no key, and OFAC's recent actions are read again every 20 minutes.

The two tools

list_ofac_actions returns OFAC's recent actions, newest first: designations and removals, general licenses, FAQs, regulations and settlements, each with its date, categories and the official page. Filter by date or words in the title.

search_screening_lists searches the Consolidated Screening List (OFAC SDN and other Treasury lists, BIS Entity, Denied Persons, Unverified and Military End User lists, State ITAR-debarred and nonproliferation lists) by name, alias or identifier such as IMO, SWIFT/BIC or registration number. Close spellings match. Each result gives the list, programs, addresses, IDs, remarks and the official list link, and says when each list last changed.

How to read a result

A list match is a lead to check against the official entry, not a determination that a party is listed. No match is not a clearance: names vary in spelling and transliteration, and the lists change. Every answer carries the desk's terms: decision support from official public sources, not a legal determination.

From the record to the decision

Each action that changes a decision gets a dated desk note: the official record, what it means for the reader it is written for (for example a sanctions or trade-finance committee, or a credit committee), what would change the call, and numbered sources.

Recent examples

Iran-related designations, Belarus and North Korea removals, new Iran and Russia general licenses (21 October 2026), Venezuela General License 60A (16 October 2026) and a settlement with Bank of America (13 October 2026).

Questions

How often is it updated? OFAC's recent actions every 20 minutes; the screening lists every hour.

Does it replace my screening system? No. It is a research aid from official sources; readers own their compliance obligations.
